EU Safety Gate published 14 serious recalls of electrical and electronic equipment between October 2 and 9, 2026, all notified by Sweden and all ordering withdrawal from the market. The common defect is excessive lead in the solders, with measured concentrations from 25.2% up to 78.5% by weight, alongside cadmium, the phthalates DEHP and DBP, and short-chain chlorinated paraffins in cable plastics, breaching the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU.

EU importers of Chinese-made electrical and electronic equipment and luminous toys, online marketplaces such as Amazon EU, AliExpress and Temu, and distributors of low-cost consumer electrical goods must immediately check stock and online listings against the 14 alerted products and verify supplier RoHS test reports for lead, cadmium, phthalates and short-chain chlorinated paraffins in solders and cable plastics, plus EU declarations of conformity. Failure to act means withdrawal of the non-compliant products from the EU market, as enforced in the 14 alerts, and national penalties under RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU.

And 2 more alerts of the same pattern, listed in the Sources.

The pattern

The 14 alerts share one root cause: lead in the solders at concentrations far above the 0.1% RoHS limit in homogeneous material, measured between 25.2% and 78.5% by weight. Five alerts also report cadmium in the solders (up to 0.34%), and two report bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) in the cable plastics, with SCCP up to 3.6%. Twelve of the 14 cite a breach of the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, and the two alerts reporting DEHP, DBP and SCCP in cable plastics link to the EU POPs Regulation framework.

Twelve of the 14 products originate in China and two carry an unknown origin; all 14 were notified by Sweden and all resulted in withdrawal from the market. The wave doubles the seven alerts covered in the prior lead-solder cluster article (window September 25 to October 2, 2026), confirming a persistent lead-solder pattern in low-cost Chinese-made electrical equipment.

Who is exposed

The exposed actors are EU importers of Chinese-made electrical and electronic equipment and luminous toys, EU online marketplaces (Amazon EU, AliExpress, Temu), EU distributors and retailers of low-cost consumer electrical goods, and the brands named in the alerts: AFF IMPORT, Macrocosm and Fede. Sweden is the notifying authority, not the audience. Any operator placing these product families on an EU market faces the same RoHS obligation and withdrawal risk.

What to check now

  • Check stock and online listings against the 14 alerted products, the named brands (AFF IMPORT, Macrocosm, Fede) and the product types: lamps, karaoke machines, wireless mice, luminous toys, game toys and massage machines.
  • Obtain supplier RoHS test reports for lead and cadmium in solders and for DEHP, DBP and SCCP in cable plastics, against the 0.1% lead and 0.01% cadmium thresholds.
  • Verify the EU declaration of conformity and CE marking for each item placed on the EU market.
  • Review the technical file and RoHS Annex II substance compliance documentation.
  • Confirm country-of-origin traceability for unbranded stock, given that 12 of 14 products originated in China and two listed an unknown origin.
  • Prepare withdrawal and consumer notification procedures for non-compliant stock.

Continuous per-jurisdiction monitoring surfaces these alerts the moment they publish.
